Are Goling

Situated overlooking the peaceful Susak village, the impressive beach and the majestic Nusa Dua Island, Rolling Waters Bungalows are unique.

Are Goling means ´rolling waters´ in the Lombok- Susak language, and you can watch the waters roll all day from your balcony, or over a drink in our restaurant.

We offer clean, safe and friendly accommodation in a recently constructed, traditional grass roofed building and five bungalows. The bungalows are clean and with contemporary comforts. Our one double room with air conditioning shares hot water bathroom facilities with the bungalows. The restaurant onsite offers exceptional views and a variety of healthy local and fusion dishes.

The road to Are Goling is passable ... life is about the journey after all. From the Kuta-Marwun Road turn up the hill from the Orphanage, where our sign is situated, and travel the 1.5 km track very slowly. Savor the country meandering through a secluded rural farming valley. Following the road and our clear signage along behind the beach and through the little village brings you to our traditional alang-alang buildings. For us ´Are Goling´ means a Lombok Shangri-La.

Rolling Waters Bungalows offer an amazing place to enjoy the spectacular surf, do the beach thing or just kick back and listen for the singing shepherd in the cooling sea breeze.

Thirty Five kilometers from Bali across the Lombok Straight is stepping back in time and is what Bali used to be like in the early days in the 70’s. With current developments and with the completion of a new international airport in 2012, it won’t remain that way forever. Come and surf some of the best waves Indonesia has to offer in an amazing tropical paradise and relaxing environment. Book a local surfguide and score the best waves between Kuta and Belongas Bay (Air Guling, Mawum, Mawi etc.)The scenery will blow you away

The Surf

The surf at Are Goling is 2 reef breaks, a left and a right there is also a great little beach break ideal for beginners and also intermediate surfers. Best conditions are November through April as we have offshore winds during this period, however there are glassy mornings and if you are on the spot you will score waves to yourself throughout the rest of the year. We are closer to Mawi than Kute and Mawi is probably the 2nd best wave behind Desert Point April through November.

Are Goling Beach has great cross shore wind conditions for Kitesurfing, the winds come up around June and stay reasonably consistent through until October.

There are many easily arranged Diving and Fishing tours usually by Boat , the fishing here is amazing with many game fish available, we get snapper, Giant trevally, parrot fish, Kingfish, Tuna and many many others. The prices vary quite a bit on these type of activities, however they are cheap compared with Western prices.

Everything from car or motorbike hire is easy arranged for day tours of Mount Rinjani, waterfall tours, airport transfers and pickup or drop offs to Bangsal harbour the gateway port to the Gilli islands.
