The most famous waves of Bali are found at the spectacular cliffs of Uluwatu. There is always swell here and consequently it is popular but there are many different take off spots which are working with different swells and tides and this spreads the crowd. Really is an awesome place and sure to deliver memorable moments.
The Peak is best at mid and high tide and closes out in front of the cave at low tide . it´s the most consistant although it can be short with lots of power and excellent barrel sections.
Racetracks is about 100 meters further down the line and is a very fast wave with a lot of sections offering easy barrels. Best at low tide and when its about 6ft or bigger swell. On the right tide and the right swell advanced surfers can make it through into racetracks from the outside peak.
The Inside Corner is often best at mid to low tide and a 6ft swell. Keep the high line to make the barrel at the end bowl.
Outside Corner only starts to work with big swells (>8ft) and when the tide is low. The lower the tide the better it gets. A great opportunity to use your big Gun to help paddle in and keep up with the long walls and a big barrel if you are lucky.
Temples: Furthest up the point and less surfed. This wave is for experts as the water is very shallow but offers an unreal barrel when it works.
Extremely powerful Left hander and is considered to be one of the most dangerous and hollowest waves around Bali. The final bowl section is a barrel every time and very dangerous at low tide when it is smaller swell. This wave really starts to turn on when it getting over 6 foot. Then the bali experts will show you some really long barrels and why the wave is so famous. The shifting take off zone can be difficult to navigate with the crowds of surfers all wanting that sweet spot. Padang-Padang is usually out of control when it getting bigger than 10-12 foot. Bring your A game!
With a good swell and a low and incoming tide ..then you can get waves that are makeable all the way.At other times you have to be fast to make the impossible sections. Impossibles has many days of perfection and it is less crowded than many other spots only because it is a little bit more of a mission getting out there.
Bingin is fun! And very popular with it being such a perfect set-up. Sit on the verandah of the many bars and cafes right on the beach and watch the barrels roll in. It is a short fun wave and can be super crowded but its always working so have a cool drink and chill in the shade until the crowd thins. It looses a bit of shape on the higher tide and will be less crowded then too. It can be dangerous for the inexperienced surfer at low tide but inside Bingin is the perfect arena for beginners and you will find great surf lessons here. Bingin is a really perfect Bali surf experience for all levels. Non surfers have all the conveniences to chill on the beach with music, food and drinks.
This is just a handful of the surf breaks near Rapture Bali Surf Camp and there are hundreds more all within easy reach.
We can meet you at the airport when you arrive in Bali and take care of your trip out to our camp which is about 30 -40 minutes drive from Denpasar Airport.
