Indonesia is one of the world’s most exciting surf destinations. It’s a land of amazing cultures, exotic animals, beautiful jungles, talented artists and incredible food. There are also dozens of amazing world-class waves

An Indonesian surf trip is always full of excitement and adventure, where you can still find some of the best uncrowded surf.

The most popular surf breaks include spots like Uluwatu, G-Land, Supersuck, Nias and the Mentawai’s just to name a few. Some of the best breaks have little to no surfing gear available, no surf shops or other essentials. So remember to pack carefully.

After you have spent lots of money and time planning your trip the last thing you want to do is arrive to find you are without an essential bit of gear or breaking something and not having a spare. To get the most out of your surf-trip to Indonesia you need to be equipped to endure the sometimes harsh conditions and be ready for any obstacle that may come your way, in and out of the line-up.

Here’s a suggested list of what to pack for your surf trip to Indo:

  • 3 surfboards (all-rounder, mini-gun, gun). Or at least 2 boards.
  • We recommend packing 2-3 sets of fins and fin keys.
  • There are good ding repairers nearly everywhere in Indo so getting a board fixed can be easy.
  • In the cooler winter months a Springsuit, short-john, wetsuit-vest can be very useful.
  • Reef Booties
  • Sunblock, zinc, surfing hats and sunglasses. The glare can be really bad on the eyes.
  • Tropical grade wax
  • Legropes, at least 2, and a longer big-wave leggie.
  • Books, Hard drive with music or movies.
  • MP3 players, cameras, laptop.
  • Insect repellant, light trousers & long sleeve top for early mornings and evenings
  • Sunglasses
  • International Driving License is a good idea to avoid any issues with police checks. Scooter hire is very popular and it’s a fun way to explore the coastline and find different breaks.
  • First Aid Kit with basic essentials could end up being very handy and save you any hassles.
  • We suggest the following as a rough guide for what clothes you will need on an Indo surf trip:
